steve mcgrath (1)My Perspective – Think for Yourself: I take ‘official stories’ and rigid beliefs with a grain of salt. Whether it’s politics or religion, I’m interested in the why—where do these ideas come from, and who do they actually serve?

The Good and the Bad of Groups: I recognize that being part of a group—religious or ideological—gives people comfort, guidance and a sense of community. That’s a good thing. However, that same loyalty can be a blind spot. Throughout history, we’ve seen how easily these groups can be manipulated by those in power to control and ‘steer’ people.

Facts Over ‘Isms’: I don’t care for ‘isms’—capitalism, communism, or any other dogma that requires one to stop thinking and start just “believing.” I prefer hard data and evidence that isn’t bought and paid for by someone with an agenda or profit motive.

Risk and Reality: I look at the world through a risk-management lens. Sometimes, the evidence leads to conclusions that make people uncomfortable, especially if it contradicts a strongly held belief or they are heavily invested in the ‘standard’ version of events. I’m not here to condemn anyone; I’m here to understand the truth, even when it’s invisible to the naked eye. I accept that things may not always be as they seem. But I’m also disinclined to accept exhortations to disbelieve what my eyes clearly see, or to accept conclusions that logic contradicts.

Approach: I take a non-partisan, evidence-based, evidence-led, data driven, systems engineering approach to local and global issues.
